I interrupt my regular Monday recipe posting to bring to you my very first giveaway!! I’m super excited!
It all started when my oldest was starting pre-school last year. As an allergy mom, I was all sorts of worried about accidents, because even though it was only a few hours, they had daily snack time. I had spoken with my son’s teacher, principle and nurse and had filled out the necessary forms, but was still worried his allergies might be forgotten in the scramble of learning all of the new students.
That’s when I ran across Talk For Me Tees. I knew that this would be a gentle, but effective way of reminding the teachers, aids, and bus drivers that my son had food allergies. It gave me peace of mind, and my son felt good in it too. I don’t think he got that it was about food allergies, but he adored that there was a shark on it–and that was all he needed to feel snazzy on his first day.
Forgive the picture, as it was taken on a phone, but this was my son on his first day of school last year. As you can tell, he was pretty excited!
He wore his shirt over and over, and we’ve since used it when there’s new play dates, the first day of gymnastics class and so on. It’s my go-to shirt for any new situation.
Since school is just around the corner (sob!), I wanted to give another allergy mom some peace of mind. I contacted Jodi, the owner at Talk For Me Tees, and she graciously gave me another shirt (WIN!) and is willing to give one winner a child’s shirt of their liking.
I let my son pick his shirt, and I was not surprised one bit when he picked the super hero one. He has worn it multiple times in less than one week, and has even mentioned it in his sweet, little prayers. I’d say he enjoys it!
As you can see, he even likes to do what he calls “superman” poses in it too! I think it helps both of us feel a bit more secure.
I hope whatever lucky child wins the giveaway that they also feel as confident in their shirt.
While I’m still waiting for our allergist to fill out the new school year paper work, and I’m a bit nervous to talk to his new teacher–I do feel good we at least have his first day of school outfit picked out.
Be sure to fill out the rafflecopter below to win. The entry beings today and ends at 12 AM Mountain Time on Thursday, August 4, 2016. I’ll announce the winner here, on my blog, the next day (Friday)! And, Jodi will also contact them personally. *Winner must live in the continental US.*
To also get you ready for school, I also wanted to share this great resource that Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE) has put together that you can use when talking to your school about 504 plans.
May we all have a safe, accident free school year!

This would be awesome to win. My son has Eosiniphillic Esophagitis. I feel like I spend hours telling people not to feed him. Or laying what he can and can’t have.

Hey Amy! I feel for you. My son has EOE and over 30 allergies, so it can get exhausting always explaining things. Good luck with the giveaway!
